Binh Ba Bird Hai Tac Hon Son Khanh Hoa Ly Son Nam Du Nghe An Ngu Phan Thiet Phu Quy

Hai Tac, Nam Du, Hon Son or Phu Quy islands have all become attractive destinations for tourists inside and outside the country in recent years.
1.Hai Tac Island
 With a ticket priced at just VND40,000, we came on board the Minh Nga Boat at Ha Tien Wharf in early afternoon to go to Doc Islet. Once on board, we could see the beautiful Ha Tien City with To Chau Mountain, Phao Dai Mountain, Binh San Hill, Den Mount and Nai Cape appearing like a magnificent great wall of nature.

Doc Islet is located in Tien Hai island commune in Ha Tien Town, Kien Giang Province. Combining with neighboring islands, Doc Islet has formed into Hai Tac Archipelago, which is also called Hai Tac Island, with an area of 1,100 hectares of land, including 16 islands off Ha Tien Town covering 11 nautical miles.

2. Nam Du island
Nam Du Archipelago, around 40 kilometers away from Phu Quoc Island, is becoming an attractive destination for backpackers heading to the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang.
Located in Kien Hai District, the archipelago has 21 islands, of which the Hon Lon (Big Isle) is the biggest.

3.Hon Son island
Hon Son island, Lai Son commune, Kien Hai District, Kien Giang Province, Vietnam. Hon Son is located in the middle of Nam Du Island and Hon Tre Island. It is about 65 km from Rach Gia city with an area of 11.5 km2. The official name of Hon Son island is Lai Son in Lai Son commune, Kien Hai District, Kien Giang Province. Hon Son island is pristine, few tourists, and has no electricity.


4. Phu Quy Island is located about 120km from Phan Thiet City to the east in Binh Thuan Province. Covering over 17km 2 with great potential, the island is considered the political, economic and cultural centre of the island district of Phu Quy.
During the day of calm sea, it takes tourists only about 5-6 hours by ship and only 3 hours by a high speed boat to arrive on the island.
Seen from the sea from different directions, the island looks like a floating city with interesting shapes, such as a dragon, a codfish or a giant whale swimming in the deep blue ocean.
Near Phu Quy Island are various small islands, named Hon Tranh, Hon Den, Hon Trung, Hon Giua and Hon Do.
In the past, the island was called different names, including Co Long, Thuan Tinh and Khoai Xu.
According to historical records, the island has been famous for its great potential. Since the 17th century many people from the mainland arrived on the island to claim the land and establish villages.
Located in the middle of the East Sea, Phu Quy Island has a strategic position in terms of national defence and security of Binh Thuan Province in particular and of the nation in general.

5. Binh Ba island 
Binh Ba island located in Cam Ranh City (Khanh Hoa Province), is famous for the name " lobster island" with island's richness.. 

6. Bird Island
About 70 kilometers from Quang Binh Province’s Dong Hoi City, there is a deserted island called Chim (Bird) or Gio (Wind) Island that is home to many sea birds.

Two different boat services are available from Dong Hoi City to the island.
A four-hour boat leaves from Nhat Le-Dong Hoi seaport and there is a two-hour service from Canh Duong seaport in Quang Trach District.

The sky above the rocky island is always full of birds that nest there. Standing on the highest rock, the view goes forever in every direction, just miles of sea and endless sky.

7. Ly Son Island
Ly Son Island in Quang Ngai Province, also called Cu Lao Re, is covered an area of 10 square kilometers, divided into 3 communes of An Vinh, An Binh and An Hai. Thanks to many historical, cultural relics and fascinating tourist areas, Ly Son Island held a strategic position on the East sea of Vietnam.

8.Hon Ngu Island
Ngu Island lies over 4km from the coastal. The Island consists of two small islets. The bigger one is 133m above the sea level, and the smaller one is 88m. Flowing near to the sea, it meets Dung mountain, and then Lang Kho one locating at the Northern bank. So, it bends itself to the South and then flow to the sea. There are two great complexes of ancient temples in Southeast Asia, one at Bagan in Burma, the other at Angkor in Cambodia. The temples of Angkor, built by the Khmer civilization between 802 and 1220 AD, represent one of humankind's most astonishing and enduring architectural achievements. From Angkor the Khmer kings ruled over a vast domain that reached from Vietnam to China to the Bay of Bengal. The structures one sees at Angkor today, more than 100 stone temples in all, are the surviving remains of a grand religious, social and administrative metropolis whose other buildings - palaces, public buildings, and houses - were built of wood and have long since decayed and disappeared.

Conventional theories presume the lands where Angkor stands were chosen as a settlement site because of their strategic military position and agricultural potential. Alternative scholars, however, believe the geographical location of the Angkor complex and the arrangement of its temples was based on a planet-spanning sacred geography from archaic times. Using computer simulations, it has been shown that the ground plan of the Angkor complex – the terrestrial placement of its principal temples - mirrors the stars in the constellation of Draco at the time of spring equinox in 10,500 BC. While the date of this astronomical alignment is far earlier than any known construction at Angkor, it appears that its purpose was to architecturally mirror the heavens in order to assist in the harmonization of the earth and the stars. Both the layout of the Angkor temples and the iconographic nature of much its sculpture, particularly the asuras (‘demons’) and devas (‘deities’) are also intended to indicate the celestial phenomenon of the precession of the equinoxes and the slow transition from one astrological age to another.

At the temple of Phnom Bakheng there are 108 surrounding towers. The number 108, considered sacred in both Hindu and Buddhist cosmologies, is the sum of 72 plus 36 (36 being ½ of 72). The number 72 is a primary number in the sequence of numbers linked to the earth’s axial precession, which causes the apparent alteration in the position of the constellations over the period of 25,920 years, or one degree every 72 years. Another mysterious fact about the Angkor complex is its location 72 degrees of longitude east of the Pyramids of Giza. The temples of Bakong, Prah Ko and Prei Monli at Roluos, south of the main Angkor complex, are situated in relation to each other in such a way that they mirror the three stars in the Corona Borealis as they appeared at dawn on the spring equinox in 10,500 BC. It is interesting to note that the Corona Borealis would not have been visible from these temples during the 10th and 11th centuries when they were constructed.

Angkor Wat, built during the early years of the 12th century by Suryavaram II, honors the Hindu god Vishnu and is a symbolic representation of Hindu cosmology. Consisting of an enormous temple symbolizing the mythic Mt. Meru, its five inter-nested rectangular walls and moats represent chains of mountains and the cosmic ocean. The short dimensions of the vast compound are precisely aligned along a north-south axis, while the east-west axis has been deliberately diverted 0.75 degrees south of east and north of west, seemingly in order to give observers a three day anticipation of the spring equinox.

Unlike other temples at Angkor, Ta Prohm has been left as it was found, preserved as an example of what a tropical forest will do to an architectural monument when the protective hands of humans are withdrawn. Ta Prohm's walls, roofs, chambers and courtyards have been sufficiently repaired to stop further deterioration, and the inner sanctuary has been cleared of bushes and thick undergrowth, but the temple has been left in the stranglehold of trees. Having planted themselves centuries ago, the tree's serpentine roots pry apart the ancient stones and their immense trunks straddle the once bustling Buddhist temple. Built in the later part of the 12th century by Jayavarman VII, Ta Prohm is the terrestrial counterpart of the star Eta Draconis the Draco constellation.

During half-millennia of Khmer occupation, the city of Angkor became a pilgrimage destination of importance throughout Southeastern Asia. Sacked by the Thais in 1431 and abandoned in 1432, Angkor was forgotten for a few centuries. Wandering Buddhist monks, passing through the dense jungles, occasionally came upon the awesome ruins. Recognizing the sacred nature of the temples but ignorant of their origins, they invented fables about the mysterious sanctuaries, saying they had been built by the gods in a far ancient time. Centuries passed, these fables became legends, and pilgrims from the distant reaches of Asia sought out the mystic city of the gods. A few adventurous European travelers knew of the ruins and stories circulated in antiquarian circles of a strange city lost in the jungles. Most people believed the stories to be nothing more than legend, however, until the French explorer Henri Mouhot brought Angkor to the world's attention in 1860. The French people were enchanted with the ancient city and beginning in 1908 funded and superbly managed an extensive restoration project. The restoration has continued to the present day, excepting periods in the 70's and 80's when military fighting prevented archaeologists from living near the ruins.

Orthodox archaeologists sometimes interpret the temples of the Angkor complex as tombs of megalomaniacal kings yet in reality those kings designed and constructed the temples as a form of service to both god and their own subjects. The temples were places not for the worship of the kings but rather for the worship of god. Precisely aligned with the stars, constructed as vast three dimensional yantras and adorned with stunningly beautiful religious art, the Angkor temples were instruments for assisting humans in their realization of the divine.

About 40 kilometers north of Nha Trang City, there are immense salt fields in Hon Khoi, Ninh Hai Commune, Ninh Hoa District where passers-by can see and feel the hardship of local women working on huge salt piles.

From downtown Nha Trang City, tourists just go north along National Highway 1A to Ninh Hoa District where they see a road sign to Doc Let Beach. From the beach, make a right and go straight for about five kilometers to get to Hon Khoi.


At dawn, the salt fields are reflected in the golden rays like a giant beautiful mirror.

At 4 a.m. locals start a new day on the rice fields. They rake the salt and then carry it home. Most workers are women and the harvest of the salt season lasts from January to July.

Hanoi, in Vietnam, is the most affordable city to visit this summer, a survey by TripAdvisor has found.

A night out in Vietnam's capital will cost two people a reasonable £91.70 on average, the travel website said. The value for money only comes however, if you can afford the flight to get there, which can cost upwards of £700.

In comparison, London was the most expensive and knocked Oslo off the top spot with an average spend of £311.80 for two people all-in for one night.

Trip Advisor’s annual TripIndex Cities survey compares the cost of an evening out, including an overnight stay, at 48 tourist cities.

To determine which locations could be considered the most affordable, it calculated the typical costs for two people to enjoy a cocktail at a five star hotel, a meal out, two taxis to and from the airport, and an overnight stay for two in a four star hotel between June and August.

Cancun, in Mexico, was found to be the best value for drinks, with a pre-dinner vodka martini for two averaging out at £2.02. But head to Paris and you can expect to pay 15 times that amount, the survey found.
